Lars and the Real Girl
As my friends know, I am a movie fiend. I love all genres of film. But I don't get to indulge in going to the cinema as often as I used to when I was young and single. But how I love film! I would love nothing better than to sit through a whole night of film until dawn (like I used to when I was younger). As long as there is plenty of popcorn and chewy toffees.
We've joined Screenclick so we rent DVDs delivered to right to our door (saves alot on late return fees!!). This week we rented "Lars and the Real Girl" It's about a delusional young man (Ryan Gosling) who has an anatomically correct doll for a girlfriend. All his family and townsfolk are very supportive of his new "relationship". From the description of the movie, it sounded like the humour might turn a bit sophomoric and slapstick, but it was very sweet and poignant. I really enjoyed it.
I would give it 3 1/2 stars out of 5. I would see it again, but it still isn't knocking anything out of my top 10! If I could only decided what really is in my top ten! Maybe top 100!
Next week is Mirrormask.....
